Sunset Cliffs Small Wedding in San Diego

Small weddings were still a thing pre-Covid times! Karyl and Aaron wanted a small wedding at Sunset Cliffs with only their close family and friends! While this wedding is still pretty large to do right now during the pandemic, it really shows how you can still have an absolutely gorgeous wedding without 250 guests!

Karyl was a gorgeous bride and the florals she had in her hair just made her beauty next level! All floral arrangements were done by the one and only Huntress Florals in San Diego. And Aaron’s boutonniere matched just perfectly! I loved the florals done at the ceremony site at the cliffs with the accent rugs to make the ceremony feel a little more boho.

As wedding days are live events, we had a little hiccup in the day and had to stop at Stephan’s Cleaner’s & Tailoring in Ocean Beach. During getting ready photos, the zipper on Karyl’s dress got stuck halfway up! In my 7 years of photographing many gorgeous BHLDN dresses and wedding days, I have definitely never seen that happen! So after it was apparent the dress was not closing, I stepped out and gave Stephan’s a call. They were able to get her sewn up in her dress. Which meant to keep us on schedule we had Aaron meet us at the tailor’s to do the first look. And you know what, I LOVE these first look photos. It’s very real and authentic to their day and we all had a good laugh. Sometimes these little hiccups on your wedding day can make for the best stories! And most importantly, knowing to go with the flow and have a good laugh about it is the best.

After that, the day went off without a hitch and their ceremony and portraits are some of my favorite. These two and their friends and family really know how to celebrate!
