Happy Birthday Shadow!

Last week, Andy and I celebrated our best buddy's 6th Birthday! Technically, it was the one year anniversary of when we adopted him and what a year it's been!Andy and I have talked about adopting a dog for years and years... and years. But we moved around quite a but in the almost 11 years we have been together. When we moved back to Los Angeles from our year in Chicago, I began following some local rescues on Facebook. It is such a great way to get to know a rescue, as well as see all the pups they have up for adoption instantly. One of those rescues was Two Dog Farms and this handsome pup named Shadow showed up in my newsfeed. As Andy and I were reading the write up on him, Andy said "That's it. It's him. He is so amazing." He was found in Orange County and seemed to have been wandering the streets for some time and was picked up by a shelter down there. Two Dog Farms stepped in the day before he was going to be put down (due to overcrowding) and rescued him. Shadow seemed to have shown some separation anxiety as well as just anxiety in general. The volunteers at Two Dog Farms were so amazing preparing us for every possible scenario. He was super anxious his first 24 hours, we did not get much sleep that first night. Then by the end of his second day here, he was fast asleep in the corner.A year later, Shadow seems so happy and we love him so much! He LOVES squeaky toys and thankfully does not decapitate them! Shadow loves hiking and the Chandler Bike Path (so much to smell and pee on!) He also has a little Shih Tzu mix girlfriend named Sadie in the neighborhood who loves to jump up and give him hugs. (We're all neutered here folks!) He has become so affectionate but in typical Shiba Inu fashion may take a couple minutes to warm up to new people and pups, but he's your best friend within minutes. And we are so happy he's our best bud!
